Where should we start when defining Affiliate Marketing, well lets first put it in it’s place within the grand scheme of things regarding the Internet and Marketing in general.

Well we are working on the Internet so there is no better place to get an answer and here it is:- “Affiliate” . So what did you learn? Affiliate has many different definitions.

Well what we really need to do is narrow this down to a more specific meaning and we can do that by adding “marketing” into the mix. Thus we have “Affiliate Marketing” and now we have a genre of people that are acting as middle men/women for Vendors and Consumers.

How does this benefit the vendor and the customer? Well it benefits the vendor because by the very nature of Affiliate Marketing the affiliate bares all the expense of advertising. It benefits the customer because they are able to more easily find the product or service more easily due to the advertising efforts of the Affiliate.

Many people scorn the online Affiliate as tho they were some kind of con artist making them purchase something that they didn’t need. This is due to the unscrupulous behaviour of some people in the earlier days of online Affiliate marketing. However such is the nature of the internet more and more people become dilligent and aware.

When we truly think about it Affiliate’s are merely salesmen peddling there goods in the world and as with any salesman be it online or offline one should always be diligent and find the appropriate information to make an informed decision.

But they have secret ways of making me buy what they are selling ! Well no actually they may be good sales people and have convincing sales messages but really do they control your mind. No absolutely not why else would you be looking at what they have for sale anyway if you weren’t in the slightest interested in buying.

There are unscrupulous people wherever you look in life and the internet just concentrates them or so it seems because of the very nature of it.

So I think we have established that all an Affiliate Markete is doing is selling a product or service on behalf of the vendor. Theree is no reason to distrust them they are not inflating the price of a given item or service because they take a commision rather they reducing the price and more often than not increasing the value. Because if some of the major suppliers had to do all their own advertising they would have to employ more people and I guarantee that the product or service price would be increased .

So an Affiliate Marketer should be no more loathed than say chosing one tea house over another because you prefer their tea. If you don’t like a particular sales person does that mean you wont still buy a product or service you need or want. I would say no it just means you will find another outlet for the goods you seek.
